If you have oily skin and your liquid foundation tends to rub off easily, you need a long wearing foundation that will give you a flawless look last all day once it was applied. There are lots of foundations in the market that claims to be long lasting, but among all of them, I found Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation does the best job, it never embarrassed me at the last moment. As the name suggests, the foundation seem to ‘stay in place’. Let’s check whether this is really true.
There are about 30 shades of this foundation already up on the shelves for being picked up by customers with similar or near similar flesh color. The foundation is sold in a thick glass bottle of 1 oz. The customer can at once match the color or pick an intended one from the foundation color that can be seen from the transparent glass bottle. The cylindrical opaque cap needs to be opened carefully as the opening of the bottle does not end in a dropper or a pump. The wide opening is definitely the only thing I would complain about the foundation. A pump would make things so much easier. The bottle must be kept air tight lest it attracts air moisture and get contaminated. As there is a trace of SPF element in the foundation, it should be kept away from direct sunlight.
The foundation is not very thick. It flows a little on the skin. However, it is cool and not oily. The ideal way of putting the foundation is to take some amount in a damp sponge like a beauty blender and massage it on the face. After few minutes, the wetness disappears and the skin feels light and buoyant. The texture of the foundation is watery type and not creamy lather like many foundations. In short, it is neither too thick nor thin in consistency. The skin feels supple and hydrated. The face tones up quickly. There is a subtle shine and glow in the skin. Ideally, the treatment goes well for those who go for long outings in the day. During the night too, it works wonders as it gives the shine and radiant look in the face. If the skin looks oily, a face powder can be put on to give a matte look.
There is basically no smell in the foundation. However, some sensitive people may get a subtle whiff of a chemical substance that is usually found in foundations. Nonetheless, the smell is not offensive and not long lasting. It does not hinder fragrance of delicate perfumes.
The Double-Wear foundation is supposed to be a long wear skin base product that offers medium coverage to the skin. It is also buildable with semi-matte, non-oily, and natural finish. Users have found this foundation quite effective for long hours – 15 hours or so. Although, there is a shine on the face, it is not oily to touch. The blemishes and roughness in the skin immediately disappear no sooner the foundation is applied on the face. The brilliance of this foundation is that it is not cakey even after hours of its application. The foundation does not peel off or melt even with humid or arid conditions. The face feels light, buoyant, and toned. It is looks youthful with no changes in color of the skin. There is no redness, smudges, or stains on the clothes. However, SPF 10 is quite low as far its sunscreen properties are concerned. So, users who feel that they should put on a sunscreen should do it with a separate sunscreen treatment and not rely on this product to do its job. However, the face is lit up as there are anti-oxidants and anti-aging properties as well. The foundation is truly a long lasting one and offers skin toning result.
There are no comedogenic substances in the foundation. As there are no fragrances, the foundation does not have the usual aromatic elements which cause rashes in the skin. The constituents in the foundation are dermatologist-tested. There are different shades and each has its own subtle color variation elements. The popular ones are Cool Bone Shell (for fair skin) and Dusk, Rich Cocoa, and Shell Beige (for darker skin). There is a good amount of hydrocarbons, water, and glycerin. Some amount of Magnesium Sulfate, Laureth-7, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Xanthan Gum, Alumina, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Cellulose Gum, and Pentaerythrityl are also found. There are traces of mineral salts as well.
Though the product is not very costly, it is not cheap either. Compared to a foundation cream, it is expensive no doubt. However, if you consider the skin toning and long-lasting finish, the foundation is worth the price of $37. Some buyers use it during special occasions to give the perfect glow that is required for the occasion.
