With Blackberry Z30, you can perhaps realize this dream. The BlackBerry 10.2 operating system allows BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) feature manages social networking brilliantly. The shiny black elegant piece measures a handy dimension of (5.54 x 2.83 x 0.37) inches. Slim and trim, the chic piece also weighs just 170 grams. The 5-inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen is comfortable to browse and type. The super amoled technology ensures that most of the reflected light rays are absorbed. This makes the screen bright and easy-to-read even under direct sunlight.

The touchscreen is receptive to swipes, pinches, and taps. Once the user provides a gesture command, the smartphone reacts automatically. The screen supports 16M colors and offers a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. A modestly high 294ppi pixel density makes it a perfect piece to check HD videos and images.

Just like a typical BlackBerry product, Z30 model has a full-sized keyboard which can be placed either as a portrait or as a landscape. Users can comfortably type with contextual auto-correction and next-word prediction features. The intuitive keyboard also picks up the user’s keying mode and inclination and provides useful tips while a text is being typed.

Internal Specs

Blackberry Z30 is spiced up with Qualcomm MSM8960T Pro Snapdragon chipset – that is just right for fast mobile computing devices. The chipset is used for making Krait processors. The dual core CPU and processing technologies help to produce a processing speed of 1.7GHz and multitasking activities. There is also a standalone processing unit just for videos and graphics. The Adreno 320 graphics accelerator gives the seamless power to download games and videos.

Powered with 2GB internal memory and 16GB storage option, the Blackberry model is fit to host 3D games and HD videos. If required, users can even power up the gizmo by increasing the storage capacity to 64GB. There is a memory card slot that can accommodate a microSD card just for this job. A MIDP 2.1 Java utility is also available with this smartphone – so, it means that the mobile phone will be able to allow the user to tweak with the layout of the display.

Battery Life

The Z30 model has a 2880mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Interestingly, this one is non-removable. However, it offers a notable talk time of nearly 24 hours. When the mobile phone is in a standby mode, the battery life is about 384 minutes. The battery runs out of power when the gizmo uses the web browser constantly at 7 hours and 34 minutes. It can provide non-stop power when a video playback is switched on. These results indicate that the battery life is reasonably good.

The 8MP camera offers HD videos and photographs with sharp and bright images. The resolution offered is 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera supports autofocus, touch focus, geo tagging, image stabilization, HDR, and face detection features. There is an intuitive LED flash with it. The HDR option allows the images to be brighter than expected from a standard camera as the light contrast is increased through this feature.

Video shooting can be done at 30 frames per second (fps). The video recorded through this camera is at 1080p. There is also another front facing secondary camera which seamlessly records videos. This 2MP camera records videos at 720p resolution.


The Blackberry smartphone is compatible with 4G networking. It allows LTE 800, 900, 1800, 2100 or 2600 bandwidth. It can also connect wirelessly through Wi-Fi utility of bandwidth 802.11 a/b/g/n. It supports dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth        4.0 connectivity. It is also equipped with NFC, microUSB2.0, and USB On-the-go.

The phone acts as an accelerometer, compass, gyro, and proximity sensor. It is possible to communicate through SMS, email, Push Email, IM, MMS, and BBM 6. With the web browser supporting HTML5 and Adobe Flash, the gizmo can display remarkable animations and Flash files. There is an FM radio option to allow the users to listen to music. The GPS enabled phone does not have a fingerprint scanner to protect the system from unwanted intruders however.


At nearly $400, the relatively high-end smartphone with useful camera, display, and internal computing technologies is quite affordable for those requiring such specifications.

Summary: The modestly priced Blackberry Z30 is a good option for those who cannot stay without tweaking smartphones. With irreplaceable battery option, the gadget may not appeal many. However, it is an efficient smartphone nevertheless.
