Dell Latitude E7440 is a ultrabook that is meant for top executives who don’t want to compromise on anything – even the price. As a Dell product, one can imagine that the laptop not only complies with all the rules indicated by Intel but also has the latest technologies and Dell-specialized solutions to ensure the product is really for the elite. Although there are similar contenders in the market, Dell’s E7440 of the Latitude series has a mark of its own. Let’s check that intriguing power it owns.

Nowadays we need the laptops to be slim-trim and chic. So, what’s new with Dell’s E7440? Its attractive brushed-metal is made up of an alloy of three metals – aluminum, magnesium, and steel. The combo makes a ‘tri-metal chassis’ which gives the shine and firm grip. The powder-coated aluminum near the wrist rest gives a comfortable and soft feeling. On the hinges, brushed aluminum is used. The base is coated with the alloy to ensure that the light and handy gadget does not slip accidentally.

The ultra-slim gizmo is just 21mm thick and weighs only 1.6kg. Compared to other laptops, such as Sony or Lenovo of similar specifications, this one has a sturdy body with an elegant look. It is subjected to MIL-STD-810G testing – which means, it will not develop a snag on harsh weather conditions of excessive heat, dusty storm, or humidity. The keyboard is also guarded against spillage.

The 14-inch multi-point touchscreen is encased with a Gorilla-Corning screen that can withstand external pressure and scratches. The carbon-fiber backed screen is good enough for movies or writing text.

The elegant looking laptop has equally high-performing features. The computing technologies include the 4th generation Intel Core i5-4300U processor that offers a speed of 1.6GHz. There is an additional 3M cache option too. A powerful 4GB of DDR3 memory, integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics, and 256GB Solid State Drives (SSD) are good enough to ensure heavy graphics based video games can be seamlessly played on it, but the Dell Latitude E7440 will be more like a business laptop than a gaming one .

The IPS-technology, 10-point multi-touch screen has a resolution of 1,920-by-1,080 pixels. This is good enough for viewing any HD movies or videos. The keyboard has 4-levels of brightness to ensure users can comfortably type on it.

There is a Dell Wireless 5570 HSPA and an additional mini card, a network connector (RJ-45), three USB 3.0 ports, a stereo headphone cum microphone combo jack, docking connector, mDisplayPort, HDMI connectivity, SmartCard and FingerPrint Reader. Comprehensively encrypted with authentication software tools and anti malware utilities, the Dell Latitude model is just right for those to frequent board meetings and client calls.

The computing infrastructure shows that Dell Latitude E7440 is capable of working at a high performance speed, pursue multiple tasks simultaneously, and take up heavy load just like a PC. The screen not only offers a good resolution but also comfortable anti-glare LED backlight. The in-plane viewing allows multiple viewing angles. The images are detailed and crisper.

The conveniently designed gadget has useful technologies integrated into its system. For instance, it is compatible with WiDi technology (to view content on the laptop screen simultaneously on a television or computer monitor), WiGig docking technology (to connect the laptop with a compatible computer or keyboard wirelessly), Intel vPro technology (to wirelessly access the laptop and arrange data on it), as well as Dell Configuration and Deployment Services and Dell Imaging Services (to assist in laptop data management).

There are high-quality speakers, noise-reducing microphone array, and HD webcam along with Dell Webcam software utility provides a perfect imaging experience. The 3-cell lithium-ion battery is worth 7 hours and 44 minutes which fair compared to other laptops in the market. However, there are many which provide 8 hours and more battery life.

Help and Customer Support

The Dell website is a convenient way to get issues regarding the gizmo sorted out quickly. Users can either know more about the product or summarily register their product and escalate the grievance for assistance. The customer assistance desk is also equipped with drivers and manuals that can be easily downloaded.

At $1050, the product is bit pricey. However, serious businessmen who require constant interaction with their desktops and laptops, should choose this product as it can be managed remotely.

Like a high-end product, the laptop efficiently locks up your data and passwords without revealing the same to any outsiders. Even intricate virus strains are kept away from entering the CPU of the laptop due to its sophisticated anti-viral and encryption utility.
