How to Wash Your Hair Correctly
How many times you wash your hair with shampoo in a week depends on the type of hair you have. Some washes their head almost every day while some others use shampoo only once in a week. Generally people with thin and oily hair need to wash their hair more times in a week as oily hair absorbs more dirt, pollution and also dandruff is the other reason to wash more. But thick and dry hair remains clean for longer period and using of shampoo only once or twice a week is enough for them. But it also depends on another factor and this is how you wash your hair. If you use shampoo more frequently and are not washing the hair very clearly then the shampoo and conditioner residue on the hair makes it more dirt. As a result you need to wash your head more times in a week. So a lot depends on the fact on how you wash your head.
A proper washing of hair can lead to a shiny, thick and healthy hair. A correct way of washing can also reduce the number of washing your hair in a week. Learn the proper steps of washing your hair.
Step 1: Choose the right shampoo for your hair
Get the right shampoo that is perfect for your hair and scalp type. Know your hair types and according to that choose the shampoo. If your shampoo does not create more foam then don’t think that it is not able to clean your hair properly. Rather shampoo that creates more foam makes the hair dry and rough. Step 2: Brush your hair
Start with combing your hair. Brushing the hair can detangle the small knots that you are not able to notice. Also some dust like hair spray residue, gel, mousse gets out of your hair because of brushing. Combing before taking a shower can prevent breakage, hair fall and it also helps in circulation the shampoo all over your hair very easily.
Step 3: Soak hair with water
After brushing the hair soak it completely with warm water. Do not use cold or too hot water. Too hot water removes the natural oil of the hair making it very dry. And cold water will not be able to remove the stubborn dirt out of hair. So warm water can do the best and use only warm water.
Step 4: Apply shampoo
Take a small amount of the shampoo in your palm and rub gently on the scalp area of your head. First take small amount and if you feel that more amount is required take it again but do not take too much as this can make the hair dry. The amount of shampoo required depends on the hair length and type. Oily hair needs more shampoo than dry hair. Do not mount the entire hair on the top of your head as this will create tangle in the hair. Also don’t rub the head by nails to avoid dandruff. The proper way is to gently massage your head by the finger tips.
Step 5: Rinse off with water
After leaving the shampoo on head for 20-30 seconds rinse it off with lukewarm water. Wash the hair properly until no bubbles come out. This is an important step as if anything is leftover on the head it will lead to hair falls, damage and again you need to wash the hair very soon. When you are enough sure that nothing is left and clean water is coming out of hair go to the next step.
Step 6: Apply conditioner
Conditioner is must to apply to prevent detangle and damaged hair. If your hair is already oily, then take very small amount of the conditioner but dry hair needs more amount. Take the conditioner on palm and apply it from the middle length of the hair to the end. Do not put it on the scalp. Conditioner manages the damaged hair and provides hydration. Leave the conditioner for few minutes after applying. Check out our recommendation on Best Hair Conditioner to find out the best for your hair.
Step 7: Rinse off with water
Now wash the hair properly with cold water. Uses of cold water help to hold back the cuticles in the hair as it makes the hair shiny and soft.
Step 8: Dry the hair
If you use towel to dry your hair then do not wrap the towel very tight on your hair as it takes out the oil and leaves the hair damaged, rough. If you can then try to use T-shirt towel as it prevent damages and makes the hair manageable, soft, smooth. A hair repair towel is more helpful. But try to avoid the blow dryer as much as you can because it makes the hair rough and dull. Only use it when you are in hurry.
