Available in black, white, and purple, the Sony Xperia model is sleek and chic looking. The elegant look can be seen from the shiny aluminum metal of this gizmo. A body is made of a single piece of aluminum metal with angular edges. It measures (5.47 x 2.80 x 0.31) inches in dimension and is quite lightweight. The 146gram gizmo is resistant to water and dust. The operating system is Android v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). This can be further upgraded to v4.4.2 (KitKat). Apart from a suitable CPU, the gizmo has a dedicated GPU with Adreno 320 graphics accelerator.

The 2GB internal memory is integrated in the system along with a 16GB storage option. With an added microSD, the storage capacity can increase up to 64GB. The smartphone has Java MIDP emulator and GPS utility.

Battery Life

There is a powerful lithium-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2330mAh. Sadly, the battery is non-removable. However, it functions pretty well otherwise, giving a talk time of about 16 hours. When the gizmo is in standby mode, the battery provides power up to 550 hours. The battery runs out after 5 hours 39 minutes when a played with a HD video. The battery fuses out by 5 hours and 30 minutes when the gizmo is used to browse the net.


A highly detailed camera is receptive to many imaging technologies. The 13.1MP camera offers a resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels. It has LED flash in it and supports autofocus, touch focus, geo tagging, sweep panorama, face detection, HDR, and image stabilization. Videos can be recorded at 30 frames per second (fps) with a resolution of 1080p. The images are highly detailed, color and light contrast is also huge, and a wide view is taken when clicking a panoramic photograph. In short, the shots are not blurred – instead, they are very bright. There is a front facing 2.2MP camera with a video resolution of 1080p.


Sony Xperia Z is compatible with 4G network. It supports LTE 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, or 2600 under C6603 bandwidth. It is also compatible with wireless connectivity as it supports an a/b/g/n bandwidth with WIFI. Also if you love a free hand calling,  Sony Xperia is very handy indeed with the support of Bluetooth connections, Wi-Fi hotspot and dual-band. There is NFC, microUSB2.0, and USB On-the-go built in of course.

There is a dedicated sensor that acts like a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and proximity. The users can instantly pass on a threaded SMS, email, Push Mail, IM, and MMS files with ease. With the HTML5 browser, net surfing is easy and quick. There is stereo FM radio with RDS, TV-out port with MHL A/V link, noise reducing microphone, and a music player. So, the user is packed with various types of entertainments.


At $723, buyers should consider themselves lucky to bargain this high-end product. Compared to other brands with similar specifications, the cost is not that high.
