If I have to get rid of all my foundations and only get to keep one. I will go for Yves Saint Laurent Youth Liberator Serum Foundation without doubt. As the name suggests, this product is basically a foundation with good amount of serum in it. Naturally, it comes with a cost. Find out whether it suits your skin and your budget.

The beautiful looking bottle is made up of heavy glass that contains 1 oz of the product. The bottle is kept in a golden box, classic Yves Saint Laurent style. The glass bottle has a big cap around it. It can be opened by just popping it out. Inside, there is a pump at the opening of the mouth. When squeezed, a good amount of 4-5 drops pop out. The packaging is really nice and elegant, in fact, I thought it is a perfume bottle at first sight.

The foundation has a middle texture and does not flow on the skin. It easily blends however, with the color of the flesh and gives a luminous, dewy finish. A facial brush can be used to daub the foundation on the skin. There are serum-based properties which give a calming effect to the skin. Soon, the skin becomes supple and hydrated. There are also sun-blocking elements – so, this foundation acts as a sunscreen as well. The foundation gets absorbed in the skin easily and leaves no trace of makeup. This foundation works better on dry skin than oily skin. It offers a light to medium coverage.

There is a strong floral scent in the foundation. It is also little lasting. The floral scent can be felt even after 5-6 hours after its application. Many users like its aromatic, feminine herbal smell. A sense of freshness is felt no sooner the bottle is opened.

As the name suggests, YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation helps to bring youthfulness in the skin. Its serum-like qualities help to moisturize a tired and dehydrated skin. There is a hydrating power in the solution that ensures that latent moisture in the skin is retained. The overexposed skin also gets adequate moisture as needed. The skin becomes buoyant and soft. The anti-oxidants and anti-aging properties help to remove wrinkles and fine lines. The radicals that are released from the skin are subsequently removed by the foundation solution. The skin collagens are regained.

The foundation as such has elements that blend with the color of the skin and hide blemishes. So, acnes and redness disappear soon after putting on the foundation. The solution also has color-correction properties where the foundation color blends evenly with the skin – making it look brighter and young. It is ideally meant for women who are nearing their forties where the color tunes-up with the skin texture and color. In a nutshell, the skin is toned up and looks younger while the skin color is brightened.

There are also SPF 20 elements which help to keep the ultra-violet rays from entering the skin and destroying its skin texture. However, on a bright sunny day, it is advisable to put on a separate sunscreen lotion as well.

The foundation works beautifully for skins which are not that oily but generally dry. It also works best for those who have less blemishes and the skin is ideally non-reactive. As the solution is scented, it may cause irritation to the skin. Overly, oily skin may not like the oily texture that the serum foundation may have on the skin.

The foundation does not only work as a skin base but also as a serum. Naturally, it comes with a price. One oz solution costs over $69 – if you are lucky, you may get it at a lower price in some online shops. But if you have dry skin and into a luminous look, this foundation is worth every penny.
